Frequently asked questions
What is QR code ordering?
QR code ordering lets customers scan a code at their table, view the menu on their phone, order and pay — without an app or waiting for staff. The order goes straight to the kitchen with the table number.
Is QR code ordering popular in Singapore?
Yes. Since 2020 it has become common across Singapore restaurants, cafés, food courts and hawker centres, helped by widespread PayNow use and the push to reduce manpower needs in F&B.
Is FnB Matters free?
Free to start. No setup fee and no lock-in contract. Standard payment processing fees apply to PayNow and card payments, and Lalamove charges its own delivery fees. See free POS system.
What do I need to start?
Your menu, printed table QR codes and a phone, tablet or printer to receive orders. Most outlets need no new hardware beyond a receipt printer.
Which payment methods can diners use?
PayNow, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Apple Pay and Google Pay. You can also allow pay-at-counter for cash and NETS.
Can I do delivery without GrabFood or foodpanda?
Yes. Take orders on your own online ordering link and dispatch them with our Lalamove integration — no platform commission.
How do I stop someone ordering for the wrong table?
Each QR code is tied to its table, so the order is tagged automatically. You can also require staff confirmation for the first order at a table.
Is customer data protected under the PDPA?
Diners can order without creating an account. Any personal data collected, such as a phone number for order updates, is used only for that purpose unless they opt in to marketing, in line with the Personal Data Protection Act.
What happens if the internet goes down?
Diners use their own mobile data, so they can keep ordering. Kitchen printers on Wi-Fi catch up when the connection returns; a 4G backup router avoids gaps.
How long until I am live?
Typically 3–7 days from receiving your menu.
