How QR code ordering works
Scan
Each table gets its own QR code. Diners point their phone camera at it and your menu opens — already tagged with their table number.
Order
They browse photos, pick add-ons (less sugar, no chilli, extra egg) and send the order. Nobody waits for a server to come over.
Pay
Pay upfront by PayNow or card, or run a tab and pay at the end. You choose per outlet.
Cook
The order prints in the kitchen or appears on a kitchen display screen, split by station (drinks, wok, grill).

Why Singapore F&B owners are switching to QR ordering
Run the floor with fewer staff
Manpower is the hardest cost to control in Singapore F&B. When diners order and pay themselves, one service staff can cover more tables and spend their time on food runs and clearing instead of taking orders.
Bigger bills, automatically
Every order shows the add-ons and pairings a busy server forgets to mention. Photos sell. Diners who aren't rushed also tend to order that extra drink or dessert.
Fewer wrong orders
No more mishearing "kosong" for "siew dai". The order goes from the diner's hand to the kitchen exactly as they typed it, including allergies and preferences.
Turn tables faster
Diners order the moment they sit down and pay without flagging anyone down for the bill. During the lunch rush that adds up to more covers per hour.
Change your menu in seconds
Sold out of laksa? Tap once and it disappears from every table. Update prices or add a weekend special without reprinting a single menu.
Know what sells
See best-sellers by hour, table turn times and average bill size. Decide on staffing and menu changes with real numbers.

How to choose a QR code ordering system in Singapore
Before you sign with any provider, check these seven things:
- No app download. If diners need to install anything, most won't.
- Local payments. PayNow is non-negotiable in Singapore. Check the transaction fees, not just the subscription.
- GST and service charge handling. Receipts must show them correctly.
- Kitchen workflow. Can it print to your existing printers or route by station?
- Contract length. Avoid 24-month lock-ins for software you haven't tested in service.
- Local support hours. Your system will break at 7.30pm on a Friday, not at 10am on a Tuesday.
- Grant eligibility. If you want to claim PSG, confirm the exact package is pre-approved before you sign.
Frequently asked questions
What is a QR code ordering system?
A QR code ordering system lets diners scan a code on their table with their phone camera, browse your menu in the browser, place an order and pay — without downloading an app or waiting for staff. Orders go straight to your kitchen screen or printer, tagged with the table number.
How much does a QR code ordering system cost in Singapore?
Most QR ordering systems in Singapore cost between S$30 and S$250 per outlet per month, plus card or PayNow processing fees. ScanServe starts at S$49/month with no setup fee and no lock-in contract. See the full cost breakdown.
Do customers need to download an app to order?
No. The menu opens in the phone's browser (Safari, Chrome) straight from the camera. There's nothing to install and no account to create, which is why most diners complete their first order in under a minute.
Does it accept PayNow?
Yes. Diners can pay with PayNow, credit and debit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay. You can also let them order by QR and pay at the counter in cash or NETS if you prefer.
Can I get the PSG grant for a QR ordering system?
QR ordering falls under the F&B solutions category of the Productivity Solutions Grant (PSG), but only pre-approved vendor packages qualify, and support levels change. Check the current list on the GoBusiness Gov Assist portal before you buy. Our PSG guide explains how it works.
Does it work with my existing POS?
ScanServe can run on its own with its own order screen, or send orders into supported POS systems so you keep one sales report. Tell us your POS during the demo and we'll confirm compatibility.
How long does setup take?
Most outlets go live within 3–7 days. Send us your menu (a photo or PDF is fine), we build it, print your table QR codes and run a 30-minute staff walkthrough.
Does it handle GST and service charge?
Yes. You can show prices with or without 9% GST and add a 10% service charge automatically. Receipts show the breakdown Singapore diners expect.
